When Miranda B landed her first job at age 15, she turned to UFCU for her first checking account. College and career took her hundreds of miles away. But eventually, Miranda made her way back to Austin and turned to a UFCU Small Business Loan to launch her apparel business here.
Emily C began her UFCU journey in 1976 with a modest loan for a used VW bug that would put her on the road from Austin to Dallas to help with a family emergency. Since then, she’s traveled great distances, as not only an archeologist, but also as a journalist, playwright, screenwriter and magazine editor. She uses the term “storyist” to cover the range of her published work.
Nora C joined UFCU when she was an employee and student at the University of Texas at Austin™ in 1968. Still a Member 50 years later, Nora is an educator on the Austin Community College Board of Trustees and a founder of Las Comadres Para Las Americas. She describes herself as curious person who loves to learn, and does as much as she can to improve connections across our communities.
Both veterans of the US Air Force, Joseph and Kamille were among our first Members to close on a UFCU VA home loan. With help from Mortgage Loan Officer Armando G, they’ve settled into a great house and now spend as much time as possible outdoors and unplugged, target shooting, hiking, or kayaking on the river as a family.
Katherine S founded the Technical Communications program at Austin Community College® (ACC), which is still going strong today. Cassandra P wears many hats. Once a journalist, Cassandra is now a designer, an entrepreneur, a new mom, and a trendsetter in her own right. UFCU has helped Cassandra transition to motherhood and will be there as she takes her business to the next level.
As a therapist, Aimee H works alongside doctors and physicians’ assistants to provide behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and the elderly. Ed T is a full-time freelance writer and consultant who has worked in Austin over 20 years. He authors multiple books, articles, and blogs every year. Ed started banking with UFCU as a UT grad student in 1976. He’s relied on UFCU as his financial partner ever since to help manage his cash flow and care for his family.
Patty K has a career, her art, and a new granddaughter. How does she balance it all? Not by sleeping late! Patty plans to work well into her later years to meet her financial goals, and she’s optimistic. A new Rav4, financial counseling, and Online Banking is how she’ll get there.

Jessie B believes in giving back to her community. She runs a printing, embroidery, and design business in Galveston. Jessie has also created a small business group that gets together weekly to discuss how they can help each other grow. She’s helping to build her community.
